Type in the word you want to replace, and then the one you want to replace it with. This time the Find and Replace dialog opens. On the Home tab, in the Editing group click Replace. When you do scroll through your document, Word highlights the page youвЂ™re on in the Navigation pane to show you where you are. Set the number of levels to display in the Show levels box. In the Styles Windows, click the New Style button Create a new style with a unique name such as Front Page Heading. Next, select the formatting for the table of contents. Select Insert Table of Contents from the popup menu. Then click a thumbnail image to go to that page. Then click on the Table of Contents button in the Table of Contents group. To go back to the top, click Jump to the beginning.Д¬lick Pages. If you scroll through your document, Word highlights the heading in the Navigation pane to show you where you are. Tip: To show or hide the subheadings under a heading, click the arrow next to the heading.

To go to a heading in your document, click that heading in the Navigation pane.

In the Navigation pane, click the Headings.

The Navigation pane doesnвЂ™t display headings that are in tables, text boxes, or headers or footers.

If youвЂ™ve applied heading styles to the headings in the body of your document, those headings appear in the Navigation pane. Position the cursor where you want to see the new Table of Contents. Create an additional Table of Contents: 1.1.

To create a parts' Table of Contents, do the following: 1. Create a Table of Contents for the bookmarked part. To open the Navigation pane, press Ctrl+F, Repeat the previous two steps for each part of the document that should contain its Table of Contents.

Select the option to Update entire table and click OK.To go to a page or a heading in a Word document without scrolling, use the Navigation pane.

Once this is done, you can refresh the table of contents by selecting it, right-click and select Update Field.

Then, while the text is still selected, go to the References Ribbon and select Add Text > Do Not Show in Table of Contents from the Table of contents section on the far left hand side.

Once selected, apply the new style using the icon for the new style in the Styles section of the Home Ribbon.

Select the text that you donвЂ™t want to appear in the table of contents, but still have a heading-type style.

Create a new style with a unique name such as Front Page Heading ensuring it is based on the Heading 1 style.

In the Styles Windows, click the New Style button.
